About Tunnelwerks

My shop teacher dad introduced me to the wonders of metal working. As a teenager, I made lots of tools in the basement of my parent’s South Portland home. Then, I moved on to metal shops where I learned welding and sheet metal fabrication, and then to woodworking, including cabinetry, flooring and finish carpentry.

But metal is my love. It’s durable and versatile. It can take almost any shape, from a beloved heirloom chair of wrought iron to a multi-story, polished stainless stair system. There’s nothing more satisfying than turning raw materials into a finished product.

To me, metal is simply beautiful.
